The Laboratory for Audio and Video Communication serves both for education and research. It hosts some of the laboratory practices for the BSc and MSc students for subjects such as "Studiotechnologies", "Technical Acoustics" and "Digital Video Broadcast". It is equipped with a 5.1 channel playback system, fullHD video system and a 24-channel digital mixing console for recording and mastering. The main room is connected to a small recording studio featuring microphones and guitar amplifiers, a digital piano and a digital drum set. The measurement equipment includes sound pressure level meters for measuring SPL and reverberation time (room acoustics), Kundt-tube, omni-source loudspeaker, Kinect-motion sensor. The research directions cover the following areas: virtual reality simulators, human spatial hearing, sonification, orientation and mobility devices for the visually impaired.
